Threads of Welcome

A documentary series from Jodhpur, India

In the everyday lives of women in Jodhpur, India, tea was never simply tea. It was how I was welcomed into homes, how conversations opened, how trust was built.

This series is not travel photography. It is a study of hospitality, resilience, and the dignity found in ordinary work and connection between women.

Artist Statement

I am a documentary photographer drawn to the quiet rituals that hold everyday life together. During my time in Jodhpur, India, I set out to photograph the daily lives of women, not as a visitor passing through, but as someone welcomed in.

What I found was not spectacle, but rhythm: hands sewing in silence, tea poured with care, a woman teaching by day and mending by night. These are not grand gestures. They are the quiet, repeated acts that sustain a home, a family, a community.

“Threads of Welcome” is my attempt to honor that rhythm, and the women who shared it with me.
